Sigler Western Museum, formerly Desert Caballeros Western Museum

The Sigler Western Museum reimagines a traditional historic site visit by bringing colorful characters into the three-dimensional spaces. Rather than separating artifacts from their context, the exhibition blends scenic environments, original objects, and media into a single experience that feels alive and personal.

A virtual shopkeeper (projected on a nearly invisible screen) is embedded directly into a  recreated general store and “pops up” to surprise visitors as they enter. Standing amidst artifacts in this immersive space, the shopkeeper talks about what’s for sale in his store as well as his experiences in the town. Essentially a digital docent, the shopkeeper transforms a static visit into an active encounter with the history. Every element was designed to help visitors connect with the people, places, and traditions of the American West in a more immediate way.
