The Mercer Museum
In 2004, Quatrefoil worked with the Mercer Museum project team, building expansion architects and a scholars’ advisory panel to create a comprehensive master plan and design program featuring 20,000 square feet of highly interactive history exhibits and learning labs. In 2011, when the expansion was completed, Quatrefoil designed the new wing’s first exhibit, a sampling of the museum’s collection covering life in the United States from 8,000-year-old Native American tools to a mid-20th-century refrigerator from Levittown. Elegant graphics and hands-on mechanical and multimedia interactives evoke Henry Mercer’s novel style for displaying objects and offer a participatory experiences for visitors.
